Veg Club can help make your food garden great. This series of classes covers everything from beginner basics to specialized local resources for experienced growers.

For the August session we've planned a Fruit Tree Field Trip to Darren Murphy’s garden, located at 762 Klickitat Place NE on Bainbridge Island. Darren is head of Bainbridge Island Fruit Club. He grows dozens of fruits, including berries, grapes and multi-grafted tree-fruits in his small suburban garden. Whether you have a postage stamp plot or a large expanse, you can grow great fruit in your yard and Darren can help you get started as he’ll be sharing the secrets of his success. The tour is open to all levels of fruit growers and gardeners. It’s free. Email to reserve your space or if you have questions about the field trip. Want to know more about Darren? Read this wonderful Bainbridge Island Review article from 2019.

Veg Club is presented in partnership with the Bainbridge Prepares Food Resiliency Team (because growing food is part of being prepared) and the Bainbridge Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library (because vegetable gardening is smart, healthy and cool). • September - Storing Your Harvest in Garden, Garage, and Pantry.
  • October - Composting.
