The tradition of outdoor theater is alive and well at the Kitsap Forest Theater, and continues this spring with the Broadway show, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.Each weekend from Memorial Day through Father’s Day, the Mountaineers Players will present this crowd-pleasing musical. Both residents of the Kitsap Peninsula and visitors from Seattle and beyond will delight in this family-friendly production at the beautiful Kitsap Forest Theater, located just west of Bremerton.

A quarter-mile trail transports visitors to another time and place where stories for all ages have come to life since 1923. The presentation of our spring show coincides with the blooming of the wild rhododendrons that grow along the hillsides and down the trail to the theater. Generations of theater goers have enjoyed the scenic drive or ferry ride to the theater, and often come early to picnic under the firs before the trail to the theater opens at 1:00 pm. Enjoy our tree-house play structure or hike to Big Tree before or after the show.

With Beauty and the Beast in the spring and Bend in the Road, The Anne of Green Gables Musicalin the summer, the Kitsap Forest Theater’s 2022 season brings our long awaited and postponed 2020 shows to life.

These uplifting and joyous musicals will appeal to young and old alike – treat yourself to a “day away” in the forest and enjoy theater inspired by a magical place. Beauty and the Beast: Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’sBeauty and the Beast, at the most magical of places – the Kitsap Forest Theater. This classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out.

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, this version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice and book by Linda Woolverton. The original Broadway production ran for over 13 years and was nominated for 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Beauty and the Beastwas last performed at KFT in 2008 and we are thrilled to bring this beloved show back to our theater. This “tale as old as time” is perfect for the entire family and we invite you to “Be Our Guest” for this heartwarming tale of true love and transformation, filled with unforgettable songs and thrilling pageantry.
