Bainbridge Island, WA - Tune into KCTS 9 on Saturdays as Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s (BIMA) Within/Earshot Jazz Festival comes to television. A collaboration with Seattle’s Earshot Jazz, BIMA’s Within/Earshot Jazz Festival is dedicated to celebrating and exploring the traditions and future of jazz in the Puget Sound region. KCTS 9 filmed all four concerts in October 2021 and will release one concert per week as a 30-minute episode at 6:30 p.m. with a rebroadcast later in the week. The series will also be available for streaming on KCTS 9’s digital streaming platforms.
Each of the four concerts features acclaimed local jazz musicians performing in BIMA’s Frank Buxton Auditorium. The television series lineup is as follows:
Saturday, December 11 - 6:30 p.m. - COLR
COLR is a new music project forming imaginative, visual, and expressive lines in music blending with bassist Marina Christopher, trumpeter Ahamefule J. Oluo, drummer D’Vonne Lewis, and keyboardist Josh Rawlings.
Saturday, December 18 - 6:30 p.m. - Elnah Jordan & Eric Verlinde
Powerful soul and blues vocalist Elnah Jordan and one of the most in-demand Seattle pianists Eric Verlinde were Earshot Jazz Festival favorites. As longtime musical partners, they’ve honed their deep musical connection, seamlessly melding jazz, gospel, and rhythm and blues.
- Saturday, December 25 - 6:30 p.m. - The Reggie Goings Quartet
A soulful baritone vocalist reminiscent of greats from the past like Lou Rawls,
Nat King Cole and Billy Eckstein, this quintessential jazz singer performs standards, blues, bebop, and original songs.
- Saturday, January 1 - 6:30 p.m. - Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao
Seattle's most in-demand Latin and jazz musicians join forces with legendary Costa Rican vocalist Carlos Cascante of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra for a performance that is sure to get people out of their seats.
